Katie Black‚Äôs practice concentrates exclusively on defending employers and insurance carriers in workers' compensation matters in Kansas and Missouri.  Ms. Black counsels employers on the workers' compensation process, including compliance with statutory requirements, effective claims handling, investigations, and scene documentation. She assists employers in navigating the effects of preexisting injuries, disciplinary issues, and termination, during pending workers' compensation claims.

Ms. Black has successfully litigated cases in Kansas and Missouri. She has prevailed on both oral arguments and written briefs before the Kansas Workers' Compensation Board of Appeals. Her abilities in handling occupational disease cases, drug and alcohol defenses, and alleged mental injuries frequently lead to successful outcomes.  She routinely speaks to employers and attorneys in the workers' compensation field, providing updates on Kansas and Missouri law, including a recent presentation before the Missouri Bar Association.
