Alan is an associate at McAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips. Alan represents clients in the defense and insurance claims involving casualty litigation, wrongful death, premises liability, professional liability, and insurance bad faith. Alan also has experience with criminal defense, real estate administrative law, and employment law.

Prior to joining MVP Alan served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Wyandotte County DA’s office in Kansas City, Kansas. Alan was assigned to the general criminal docket that included cases involving murder, manslaughter, robbery, aggravated battery, burglary, drug trafficking, drug possession and DUI’s. From 2016 until joining MVP, Alan served as a Senior Assistant DA. Alan has tried over 20 jury trials to verdict and has tried numerous trials to the court.

Alan received his B.S. with distinction in accounting from the University of Kansas and his law degree from the University of Kansas Law School where he was a Staff Member and Articles Editor with the Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy.

Alan’s civic and professional activities include the serving on the Board of Directors as Secretary for the Franklin Center in Kansas City, Kansas. As a member of the Wyandotte County Bar Association, Alan has served on the Board of Governors and as the co-chair of the membership committee. Alan is an associate member of Earl E. O’Connor Inns of Court and a graduate of Leadership 2000, Class 28. He is a member of the Mentor program with the University Of Kansas School Of Law and plays drums for Jacob’s Well Church Services. Alan also enjoys volunteering in the Lead to Read program with USD 500 where he gets to read with elementary school students once a week over lunch.

Alan currently lives in Kansas City, Kansas with his wife Jen, daughters Lucy and Nora, and their two dogs, Marley and Percy. He enjoys traveling and has been to Mexico, the Virgin Islands, China, Israel and Germany. Alan is proud to be a certified barbecue judge and has judged numerous events including the American Royal Open Competition.
