Charles Getto defends corporations and other entities in a wide variety of civil litigation, including business and construction disputes, product liability, and other complex litigation.
He also defends attorneys, health care professionals and other professionals in malpractice actions. In addition, Mr. Getto is one of the principal attorneys in the Kansas City area employed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in litigation against directors, officers, and other professionals of banks and other financial institutions. In this role, he has obtained multimillion dollar jury verdicts, judgments and settlements for the FDIC. He frequently speaks at litigation seminars and workshops and publishes articles on constitutional law and other subjects.
Mr. Getto is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law, where he was the UCLA Law Review article editor and an Order of the Coif member, an organization of students in the top ten percent of their graduating class. A native of Lawrence, Kansas, Mr. Getto has practiced law in the Kansas City area and in both Kansas and Missouri since 1978.
Mr. Getto is AV rated in Martindale-Hubbell and is listed in the 2005 edition of Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers for Business Litigation. He has been a shareholder at McAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips since 1981 and has served on the firm's board of directors as the secretary. He is active in the community, as well as in Boy Scouts of America, YMCA, and Special Olympics of Metropolitan Kansas City. He and his wife have three children and enjoy attending their activities. Aside from spending time with his family, Mr. Getto's interests include reading, travel, music and sports.
