Douglas M. Greenwald has over 20 years of experience with McAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips, representing a variety of individuals, corporations and insurance companies in many areas of substantive law, including general civil litigation, personal injury, product liability, commercial litigation, domestic relations, labor and employment, real estate, and probate/estate planning.
In civil litigation, Mr. Greenwald practices in tort, employment and business disputes with an emphasis in appellate advocacy. He conducts legal research and writes for many of the firm's clients in multiple practice areas, including workers' compensation, insurance coverage opinions, evidentiary issues, and summary judgment motions. He has appeared and successfully argued cases before the Kansas Supreme Court, the Kansas Court of Appeals, the Missouri Courts of Appeals, the Missouri Supreme Court, as well as the United States Courts of Appeal for the Tenth Circuit in Denver, Colorado, and for the Eighth Circuit in St. Louis, Missouri. His trial practice extends across Kansas and Missouri in both state and federal courts.
Mr. Greenwald presents legal seminars in the metropolitan Kansas City area on many topics, such as uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance, Kansas automobile insurance, and Kansas employment law. He is the co-author, along with Tony Andersen, of the Kansas Bar Association's 2006 Annual Review of Law chapter on workers' compensation. Mr. Greenwald was a law clerk for The Honorable Howard F. Sachs (United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri) from 1984 to 1986. He presently serves on the board of directors of the Wyandotte County Bar Foundation, the Wyandotte County, Kansas Chapter of the American Red Cross and the TLC for Children and Families in Johnson County, Kansas. Mr. Greenwald was recently named one of the "Best Lawyers in Kansas City" by Ingram's Magazine.
