Rachel Brown has been practicing workers’ compensation defense for McAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips since 2003. Ms. Brown represents employers and insurers in both Missouri and Illinois and communicates closely with both insurance companies and employers to coordinate the defense of injuries.
Ms. Brown conducts trials before the Illinois and Missouri Divisions of Workers’ Compensation and argues cases before the Missouri Labor and Industrial Relations Commission. She successfully defended an employer before the Missouri Labor and Industrial Relations Commission in a repetitive trauma case, convincing the commissioners that liability correctly fell on a subsequent employer. Her representative clients include American Family Insurance, Argonaut Insurance Company, Builders Association Self-Insurers Fund, ESIS, Gallagher Bassett Services, and Zurich American Insurance Group.
A shareholder with the firm, Ms. Brown frequently lectures on workers’ compensation issues. She presents on both Missouri and Illinois statutory changes and case law updates to claim representatives, employers, nurse case managers, human resource representatives and attorneys.
Ms. Brown received her juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she was the president of Phi Alpha Delta and a staff associate for The Urban Lawyer. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she was a member of the Honors College and received her bachelor’s degree in communications.
She is a member of the Board of Directors for Kids Chance of Missouri and is involved with the charity auction at the annual golf tournament. She also serves on the Southwestern Illinois College Paralegal Advisory Board. Ms. Brown and her husband, Rob, live in O’Fallon, Illinois, and are avid Mizzou fans.
